Bonjour,
Bonne Année ! Happy New Year! Welcome back.
This week was a great week. The students remember all the routine so it was an easy week back to school.
This week, in reading, we worked on our new goal: reading with fluency. Which means that we can read like with talk. We did some small activities to recognize what level of fluency the reader is doing. Here is the anchor chart with the different levels. We are looking for level 3 .
In writing, we are working on publishing our Holidays stories to make a small book. Focusing on good printing skills, correcting plural, capital letters and periods. Correcting also the words for the list that we made to help us with more specific words.
In sciences, we revised as a group for the quiz that we did on Friday. The students did really good.
The students chose a personal objective (instead of a resolution) and wrote strategies to help them attain their goals. This is part of the learning skills (to be able to sets own individual goal and monitor progress towards achieving them). You are welcome to discuss with your child what goal he/she chose and what are his/her strategies.
In Physical Education, lots of strategies were made in order to win the game. It was amazing to see all that beautiful collaboration.

Semaine du 17 au 21 décembre
Bonjour,
What a fantastic week we had. Festival of lights was great with all the different activities about the different celebrations.
For writing, we continued our stories. We focused on using the correction code to verify the capital letters and the periods. We also verified the plural of the nouns and we used the word wall to correct our sight words.
On Tuesday, we went to MacSkimming ! Wow! that place is amazing. We learned so much. We worked in team to build a house. We experienced what was school back then. We participated in daily chores that the pioneer's child was doing. We even build our own wooden toy. That day would be in our mind for ever!

Bonjour,
Another great week in grade 3! This week the students continued to work on their story. We focus on making a great beginning that includes the when, who, where and what. We also worked on the problem and the solution of the story. Students did great at sharing their story with a partner and to listen to others' stories. Some students even made suggestions to help others improved their stories.

In reading, we are continuing working on decoding new words and I am working with a group of students.
In sciences, we continued with natural forces and their negative and positive effects on human and the environment.
In social studies, we learned about the everyday chores that the pioneers were doing.
Congratulations to the students that received certificates for respecting the rules. It was hard to only choose 6 students because lots of them would have deserved one.
For the parents that would like to order Scholastics directly online need to find my name under the school name.
Lots will happen next week:
Monday (Dec 17): Crazy Socks Day
Tuesday (Dec 18): visit MacSkimming
Wednesday (Dec 19): Heritage Day: wear our traditional/cultural outfit
Thursday (Dec 20): Ugly Christmas sweater or red and green color
Friday (Dec 21): Pyjama Day
Festival of lights is also happening next week. Students will be divided into groups and every day will participate in activities around different traditions and cultural celebrations. I will be doing an activity on "le réveillon", playing music with spoons, listening to Quebec and Franco Ontarian's traditional music.

Bonjour!
We had a great week! On Monday, we had a presentation about school bus safety. It was really fun, especially with Busty the bus.
We continued to work on grammar rule. We worked on the plural of nouns.
We also started to learn about the zones of regulation. Some students have heard about it before. The zones of regulation are about the 4 zones. The blue zone is when your body is running slow like sadness, tired, sickness. The green zone is when you are "good to go", you feel happy, calm, and focus. The yellow zone is when our emotions start to lose control such as when you are frustrated, excited anxious or surprised. The red zone is reserved for extreme emotions such as terror, aggression, and uncontrolled anger. We have learned which emotion goes in which zone.
I wrote down our learning goals on the board so the students can see them at all times. I am referring to them every time we are doing a lesson.
We had a great art activity with the other grade 3. We have created Nutcrackers. Thanks to Mme Tsiolas for organizing it.
In Sciences, we have been continuing with the unit on Force. We have been learning about forces that are natural such as a tornado, hurricane, and snow storm. We worked in a team to find what are the consequences of those forces.

Bonjour,
This week was my first week in the class and it was an awesome week! The student adapted well to a new teacher. We have made some little change in the morning routine.
We revised how to do the independent reading period so I can work with a group for a guided reading lesson. We also revised a reading strategy : sounding out a word (découper le mot en syllabe). This strategy is very important to help us read new and/or complex words.
We have revised what is a proper noun (nom propre) and a common noun (nom commun) and how to differentiate them. We have made an anchor chart.

Many students had work together to build nice snowman.
Upcoming events and important dates.
Thank you to everyone that already send food for the food bank. The school is collecting the food until December 13th.
December 18: Trip to MacSkimming Outdoor Ed Center
